Let God Change Your Life! - John 10:10 says, the thief (Satan) comes only to steal, kill and destroy, I (Jesus) have come that you may have life and have it to the full. This scripture describes my life. I started with one joint on Easter Break in Daytona. Little did I know that one adventure would lead me to 13 years of drug addiction. All addictions start with one encounter and end with a lifetime of waste and destruction. When I graduated from college with a teaching degree, I started to be more and more involved in the drug culture. I quickly advanced from reefer, to barbiturates, to speed, to hallucinogenics, to cocaine, which was my ultimate downfall. Along the way I went bankrupt and lost my tenured teaching position when I was arrested for selling coke to an undercover agent. By this time my wife and I were separated (never divorced) and I was living with another woman. My second arrest occurred just as my daughter was coming into this world. My wife prayed for me for 7 1/2 years and finally I reached the end and cried out to God to change my life. I entered a Christ centered drug and alcohol center called Peniel. The term peniel comes from Gen 32:30 and means where I met God face to face and my life was spared. When Mary Lou and I were first married, we didn't understand that our real battle was spiritual as well as physical. Only when we gave our hearts to Jesus Christ did we have the spiritual power to be set free from the bondage of sin. My drug addiction was a symptom of my deeper need, which was reconciling my life to God through Jesus Christ. My wife and I just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and I just celebrated my 25th year of being free from drugs! God is no respecter of persons, meaning that if He can change my life and our marriage, He can do miraculous things for your life. My wife and I would like to invite you to visit us at Christ Community Church in North Fort Myers. - Pastor Bob & Mary Lou Hamway
